ISMH Pressconference during IMHW
Pizza, Beer and Football
During this year’s International Men’s Health Week, the ISMH held a press conference to draw more attention to Men’s Health. The ISMH President, Prof. Meryn, invited Austria’s Federal Minister for Social Affairs Erwin Buchinger and Austria’s famous football-legend Hans Krankl to talk about men and their health behaviours. One of the main points for discussion was men’s nutrition. So, since the European Football Championships were also being held in Austria and Switzerland at this time the headline for this press conference was “Pizza, Beer and Football”.
FM Buchinger said that a greater more direct focus on employees’ health in the workplace is needed, while former top scorer Hans "Goleador" Krankl demanded a greater focus on the health of young men and made a plea for more attention to be paid to sports in schools, as obesity and overweight is one of the major health problems affecting boys and male adults.
