    New Prostate Cancer Treatment

    Prof. David Crawford

Targeted Focal Therapy - a term many in health related fields may not be familiar in the context of Prostate Cancer Treatment. This new approach can be used to manage early stage, non-metastatic prostate cancer. At the Men’s Health World Congress the ISMH will be opening dialogue regarding this and other innovations in the treatment of prostate cancer. Prof. David Crawford, Scientific Committee Member of the Men's Health World Congress, believes, “In many countries we are winning the war regarding eliminating advanced prostate cancer, but in some senses loosing another war. The pendulum has swung to over diagnosis and treatment in some men. Targeted Focal Therapy is an alternative to more aggressive therapies in some men.”

"The Men's Health World Congress is promising to be the greatest opportunity for exchange of information, education, science, research and experiences for all professionals with interest in men’s health. The congress will provide the perfect forum for networking and communication about the unmet needs of men’s health and the related male gender-specific health issues. In addition to expert panel discussions, round tables, interactive sessions, symposia, lectures, abstracts and posters, the congress will provide educational tracks for general practitioners and specialists. To answer the overwhelming requests from prior years, the ISMH will also offer pre-congress courses including “How to establish a men’s health center” and “Speaker training”. I urge you to join us on October 28-30, 2010 in Nice and to spread the news to your friends, colleagues and all health professionals and institutions."

"The Men's Health World Congress provides an important multidisciplinary forum focusing on all aspects of men’s health.  Women’s health has been addressed vigorously over recent years with energetic campaigns quite rightly emphasising the importance of prevention, early detection and treatment of many diseases impairing both quality and quantity of life.  Men have not had the same degree of attention in spite of suffering similar life affecting illnesses. Recognising the time to promote men’s health represents an important initiative for 2010 and beyond.  The Men's Health World Congress, by bringing together the many aspects of men’s health, is the driving force needed to improve the quality and quantity of life for men – failure to do so is not an option."
